Perfect the sunkissed glow without tanning
Summer is the best time to perfect your sun-kissed look, but this can be easier said than done if you're stuck in the UK for the full season. With the British weather meaning you'll likely be spending more time dodging puddles than soaking up the sun, catching a tan is going to be tough.
This doesn't mean that you can't cultivate a sun-kissed look that at least make it seem as though you've gotten back from a tropical destination. There are plenty of cheats that don't require attempting to use fake tan without going streaky.
Here are our top tips for creating a stylish sun-kissed look if you don't happen to see much of the sun this season:
No matter your complexion, a little bit of shimmery bronzer goes a long way to creating a fresh and sun-kissed look. Choose a subtle shade that is complementary to your skin tone, with gold, peach, orange or bronze all working well with various complexions.
Brush it lightly over your cheeks and add a touch to your forehead to make it look like you've just stepped off the beach. Not only will the colour add a slight golden hue, the shimmer will reflect light and create an attractive dewy finish.
Gold eye makeup
If bronzer isn't your thing, gold eye makeup is easy to pull off and can look fab with all eye colours. On top of this, there are loads of different ways you can use gold throughout your eye makeup, so you're sure to find a style that works - not to mention all the shades of gold you can use.
Eye shadow can be brushed over the lids, as well as under the lower lash line and the inner corner of your eye. You can do this using a highly pigmented colour for a statement look, or a light shadow for something more subtle.
Alternatively, use a gold pencil to line the eyes, lightly smudging the edges so you still get great definition but with a softer effect. If you just want definition, create a cat eye with gold liquid liner, which is great if you really want to stand out.
One of the easiest ways to get sun-kissed without the sun is to throw on some of your glam gold jewellery. This can allow you to add a hint of gold or go all out with plenty of bling, meaning you've got plenty of options to make this trick work with your style.
For the best result, keep the jewellery simple and avoid pieces that use other bright colours, as they can detract from the overall effect. Jewellery like our set of statement gold textured earrings...
